Website

Since being hired in Millbury, I have created and maintained my own website for the school Music Department. I personally own the domain, and currently use Word Press. This website has become an important tool to students, parents, and myself as a means for communication and work.  From my website, students can  link out to complete work, listen to selections/rehearsals,  download materials, and even practice along with recordings.

Musical Theatre

Over the past 12 years I have been involved in our school Drama Club in many different ways , ranging from simply booking/performing/directing the orchestra, to fully producing and directing the entire show. When I first started teaching in Millbury, the Drama Club was run by two teachers outside of the Music Department. The entire Drama Club sustains itself without contributions from the school department, and is  funded solely by ticket sales and fundraising efforts.

These 3 years I produced, directed, conducted, designed and constructed sets and performed in the following shows:

2013 "Young Frankenstein"
2012 "Footloose"
2011 "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown Revised"

Performed/Music Directed:
2007  "Once Upon a Mattress"
2008 "Back to the 80s"
2009 "Bedside Manor"
2010 "City of Angels"
2014 "Man of La Mancha
2015 "South Pacific"
2016 "Songs for a New World

2017 "Sister Act"

2018 "Mary Poppins"

Music Parent Association

I have worked with and advised the Music Parents Association on how to best help the students and Music Department at Millbury. The booster club meets monthly, and provides equal to if not more funding for the music program than the school district itself.

Scholarship- "Petal's of Brittany Scholarship"

Sadly, on October 30, 2011 during a bad snow storm, one of my past students passed away in a bad car accident. To help honor, remember, and keep her positive spirit alive, I created a scholarship fund in her memory. The scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $500 to a student in the Music Program who exemplifies Brittany's positive qualities.

Stand With Shawn

Unfortunately in August of 2015, our Millbury School and Community lost a great man, friend, and custodian to  Esophageal  Cancer.  Shawn Savoie was the  night custodian that handled  the area of the school that our music and  athletics  could be found.  He was always there for our faculty and students.

When we was diagnosed, we started a group of students that stayed after school every day to help Shawn complete part of his job. This enabled him to work a little longer than he would have be capable of.  Each day we would help  him complete tasks from his job from doing trash, to mopping the kitchen floor in the cafeteria.  We also managed to raise some money in a concert benefit concert in his honor.  I created a successful GoFundMe Campaign that raised over $5000 to help his family with medical expenses.

Over the summer of 2015, sadly Shawn passed away. In his honor  I raised the funds necessary to create a memorial outdoors on our school campus.

Fundraisers

As a music teacher, we are always looking for creative ways to raise money. I have raised money for equipment, scholarships, memorials and trips. I have done it all from selling magazine subscriptions, to food, to poinsettias. Some of the more interesting fundraisers that I am the most proud of are  as follows:

Paint Night (in house)
Cake Decorating Class
Floral Design Night
